Shangri-la’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa
Its distinctive Minangkabau architecture houses even more artefacts of Malaysia culture.
You feast your eyes on the artfully-arranged traditional jewellery, batik-printing moulds, coral sculpture, and signature items from the prolific Malaysian Kitchen. It is the resort’s indigenous beauty that keeps you grounded and connected.
Past the winding roads of Batu Feringgi, Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa Penang welcomes guests to a warm ambience surrounded by centuries old mature trees. Inviting, yet private, the moment you set your eyes on the entrance, you almost have inkling that a beautiful, magical and well-manicure garden awaits.
There is a rich history behind this resort, which prides itself on returning guests. Some families have vacation here for over 20 years, with new additions of family members joining over the years. Some are returning honeymooners, and they have seen this resort grow into a matured, private and beautiful resort for both couples and families.
Set on a 30-acres of a former private property, and opened on November 9, 1973. Rasa Sayang Hotel was built around 8 majestic rain trees by the sea with a motto “A love of life and its pleasures.”
The Shangri-La name was inspired by James Hilton’s Lost Horizon, first published in 1933 which describes the mythical and mysterious place call Shangri-La in Tibet where beautiful surrounding, serenity and impeccable service precedence. The Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa has become an iconic resort over the four decades, and only a few have experienced Shangri-La’s hospitality.
If you are planning a stay at the resort, do take into account that The Exclusive Rasa Wing and The Elegant Garden Wing both offer a very different experience.
